Divine Significance

Edamanal is blessed with an enviable location right in the fertile delta of the Kaveri and Kollidam rivers as they drain into the Bay of Bengal. It is also endowed with a sacred history where Lord Shiva is said to have appeared in service of a devotee, and where multiple Lingams have been discovered. The history of this location and temple, related in the following pages, ties into one of these Lingams.
